BEDC Pleads For Peace: Edo Still In Darkness While Other States Have Power Restored

The Management of BEDC Electricity Plc. has called on the Edo State Government and the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) to urgently settle their disagreement so that the company can resume full operations and restore electricity supply to Edo State.

The appeal came after BEDC reached an agreement with the national leadership of the NLC, which paved the way for the restoration of power and resumption of work in Ondo, Delta and Ekiti States. Edo State, however, remains in darkness due to a "peculiar issue" still pending between the State NLC and the Edo State Government.

BEDC said the inability of both parties to find common ground has continued to prevent the company from returning to official duties in Edo State, thereby depriving citizens, businesses, schools, hospitals and other critical institutions of access to electricity.

The Management also expressed concern over recent reports of the forceful arrest of protesters, noting that such actions are not the best way to handle industrial disputes.

BEDC therefore appealed to all parties involved to embrace peace, dialogue and negotiation, and work towards an amicable and urgent resolution in the interest of the good people of Edo State, who should not continue to suffer a prolonged power outage.

The company reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable electricity supply and efficient service delivery across its franchise states as soon as the impasse is resolved.
