Edo Government Rolls Out Free Vaccination Exercise For Children

The initiative, held in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF), and the Institute of Child Health (ICH), UNIBEN/UBTH, aims to improve immunization coverage and protect children from life-threatening diseases.
The Coordinator Office of the Edo State First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, emphasized the importance of vaccination in maintaining children's health. She noted that immunization ensures children are healthy, and healthy children build a healthy nation.
Mrs. Anani also advocated for breastfeeding, citing its role in protecting children from diseases and infections.
The Edo State Government's immunization drive demonstrates its commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for its citizens.
By partnering with international organizations like WHO and UNICEF, the government aims to reduce the prevalence of vaccine-preventable diseases in the state.
The State Coordinator of WHO, Dr. Nora Eyo, urged all mothers to take advantage of the opportunity to vaccinate their children.
The Director of Disease Control and Immunization, EDSPHCDA, Dr. Eseigbe Efeomon, commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for his passion for maternal and child health, citing the Governor's health reforms, including the renovation and staffing of Primary Health Care centers.
The initiative which is expected to have a positive impact on reducing the prevalence of vaccine-preventable diseases in Edo State,has the following vaccines and supplements available- Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV)- *BCG, Penta, Measles,Yellow Fever, MenA and Vitamin A supplements to support eye health.
