Edo Red Cross Set To Honour Amb Sunday Osemwengie For Humanitarian Contributions

The Edo State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society is set to honor Amb. Dr. Sunday Osemwengie, a renowned humanitarian, for his outstanding contributions to the state and beyond. 

In a gesture of appreciation, Pastor Monday O. Edogiawerie, Chairman of the Edo State Branch, led a courtesy visit to Amb. Dr. Sunday Osemwengie, Managing Director and CEO of Triple M Luxury Hotel Limited.

The visit was a testament to Amb. Sunday's tireless efforts in humanitarian work and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Edo State.

As Pastor Edogiawerie arrived at the hotel, he was warmly received by Amb. Sunday, who was eager to learn more about the Red Cross's initiatives. The Chairman began by expressing his gratitude for Amb. Sunday's contributions to the state, highlighting his selfless acts of kindness and generosity. "We are delighted to visit you today, Amb. Sunday," Pastor Edogiawerie said.

 "Your dedication to humanitarian work has not gone unnoticed, and we believe that your values align perfectly with those of the Red Cross."

The Chairman went on to explain the history and mission of the Red Cross, tracing its roots back to the Battle of Solferino in 1859.

He emphasized the organization's commitment to alleviating suffering, promoting humanitarian principles, and supporting vulnerable populations. Amb. Sunday listened intentl, in agreement as Pastor Edogiawerie spoke about the Red Cross's various programs and activities.

As the conversation progressed, Pastor Edogiawerie revealed that the Edo State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society had been working tirelessly to support those affected by disasters and conflicts in the state. He cited examples of their recent interventions, including livelihood support for flood victims and response to the MPOX outbreak. Amb. Sunday was impressed by the Red Cross's dedication to being "On the Side of Humanity," and he felt a sense of pride knowing that he shared similar values.

The Chairman then extended an invitation to Amb. Sunday to collaborate with the Red Cross in their upcoming Annual First Aid, Disaster Management, and Leadership Training Camp. He requested Amb. Sunday's support through partnership or sponsorship, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in promoting humanitarian work and disaster preparedness. Amb. Sunday, being a kind-hearted individual, was more than willing to lend his support.

In recognition of Amb. Sunday's numerous contributions to humanity, Pastor Edogiawerie announced that the Edo State Branch of the Nigerian Red Cross Society wished to decorate him as one of the organization's Associate Members.

 The ceremony would take place during the official opening of the 2025 Annual First Aid, Disaster Management, and Leadership Training Camp. Amb. Sunday was overwhelmed with gratitude, feeling honored to be recognized by an organization he admired.

As the visit came to a close, Pastor Edogiawerie expressed his appreciation for Amb. Sunday's time and reiterated the Red Cross's commitment to working together to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need. Amb. Sunday, in response, pledged his continued support for the Red Cross's initiatives and looked forward to working closely with the organization.

In his response, Amb. Sunday said, "I am humbled and honored to be recognized by the Nigerian Red Cross Society, Edo State Branch. 

" I am a member and patron of numerous humanitarian organization already,but for the Red Cross,I won't decline".

"Currently, there are about 150 persons on our pay roll that are being assisted ,some from my community, while others are aged women, pregnant and lactating mothers among others.'For as long as live',I will continue to assist the needy".

According to him,"I have always believed in the importance of humanitarian work and being on the side of humanity. I am committed to continuing my support for the Red Cross's initiatives and look forward to working closely with the organization to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need". 

He thanked the Red Cross  for the recognition, as he is eagerly awaiting to be decorated as an Associate Member of the humanitarian society.

With a warm smile, Amb. Sunday shook hands with Pastor Edogiawerie, sealing their new partnership and commitment to serving humanity together.
