As the world commemorates the International Day of the African Child, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady in Edo State, has reaffirmed her office's commitment to promoting inclusive education and child welfare.
The theme for this year's celebration, "Education for All Children in Africa: The Time is Now," serves as a poignant reminder of the urgent need to address the educational disparities faced by many African children.

Mrs. Anani drew inspiration from the historic Soweto Uprising, where brave school children stood up against educational injustice, paving the way for future generations to demand better. She emphasized that education is a powerful tool that can unlock a child's potential and reshape society.

The Coordinator called on governments, families, and stakeholders to work together to break down barriers that prevent children from accessing quality education.

In her statement, Mrs. Anani praised the tireless efforts of teachers, caregivers, and development organizations that create supportive environments for children to thrive. She reiterated her office's commitment to championing policies and programs that expand educational opportunities, strengthen child protection, and promote gender equity.

As the world marks this important day, Mrs. Anani urged stakeholders to view it as a reminder of the collective responsibility to help children fulfill their promise. By working together, we can create a brighter future for Africa's children and empower them to become the leaders of tomorrow.
