Day of Joy and Honor: Mrs. Ikhayere Mary Oboh Celebrates Her 90th Birthday in Grand Style

Mrs. Ikhayere Mary Oboh's 90th birthday celebration was a grand affair that brought together family, friends, and dignitaries from across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the US. 

The occasion which was held at Molen Event Center, Ekpoma, Edo State was marked with warmth and joy, as guests gathered to honor her life and legacy. 

The birthday celebration was officially opened by Chief Abraham Jimawo (JP), a respected leader and former Executive Director of the Edo State Rapid Response Agency and son-in-law  to the celebrant with prayers and the traditional breaking of the kola nut.

Chief Jimawo was joined by prominent dignitaries, including political allies, friends, business associates,  Honorary Members of the 107 Maritime Nigerian Air Force Officer's Mess Benin City and others.

In his remarks, Barrister D. O. Aziegbe, a close friend of Chief Jimawo, described him as a brother and a respected leader in the United Kingdom (UK). He praised Chief Jimawo for his warm and brotherly treatment, and expressed gratitude for his consistent support and hospitality.

Barr. Aziegbe paid special tribute to the celebrant, Mrs Ikhayere Mary Oboh who he referred to as our mother and commended her for her motherly care and commitment towards the general wellbeing of humanity.

The celebration was attended by a wide range of notable dignitaries, Honorary members of the 107 Maritime Nigerian Air Force Officer's Mess Benin City , family members and friends, including Barr. Osarondion Imafidon a Commissioner for Edo State Electoral Commission (ESEC) with his entourage, Barr. D. O. Aziegbe a Benin based legal luminary, Mr. Nelson Imhandebhor a senior official of the Central Bank of Nigeria and honorary member of the Nigerian Air Force Officer's Mess Benin City with his amiable wife.Mama with her children

Other attendees included, Deacon Steven Jimawo, a Benin City based car dealer, Mr. Richard Aipoh, Senior official of the High Court, Benin City and a member of the Nigerian Air Force Officer's Mess, ESV. Gddey Areghan, Honorary Member of the 107 Maritime Nigerian Air Force Officer's Mess who led a delegation of the Honorary members of the Nigerian Air Force Officer's Mess, Benin City to the birthday occasion,Hon. Barr. Bello Inegbenebor, APC Chieftain who came in briefly with Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (Rtd) APC Edo Central  Senatorial Leader to honour Mama Ikhayere Mary Oboh specially on her 90th Birthday celebration.

Also in attendance was Dr. Sunday Oriafo, senior Lecturer Ambrose Ali University, Hajia Hawa Musah, President Auchi Diamond Ladies and her members, Dr. Akhigbe Oboh Eldest son of Mrs Ikhayere Mary Oboh, a business man and brother in-law to Chief Abraham Jimawo, Mrs. Mabel Jimawo, daughter of the celebrant and wife of Chief Abraham Jimawo, and Senior Social worker based in the UK, Engr. Samuel Oseghale, son to Mrs Ikhayere Mary Oboh, who is the Mill Manager of Okomu Oil and brother in-law to Chief Abraham Jimawo was in attendance with his amiable wife Mrs Evelyn Oseghale, Apst. Dr. Vincent Oseghale, son to the celebrant and General Overseer of a Mega church in Ekpoma and brother in-law to Chief Jimawo was in attendance with his lovely wife Apst Dr. Mrs Cynthia Oseghale, Engr. Donatus Ehi-Aloja, a son in-law to the celebrant and UK based Architect and his lovely wife Mrs. Jane Ehi-Aloja a daughter to the celebrant and sister in-law to Chief Abraham Jimawo and several dignitaries from across Nigeria, United Kingdom and the US.

In his special tribute to the celebrant, Chief Abraham Jimawo describe his mother in-law Mrs Ikhayere Mary Oboh as a mother to all, who has impacted  positively on the lives of many people both spiritually, physically, materially and otherwise, saying that he is very proud to have married from the family of Mrs. Ikhayere Mary Oboh  of Ekpoma. As he praised her for her enduring legacy. 

Throughout the day, guests shared heartfelt tributes and testimonies, celebrating Mrs. Oboh's life, legacy, and impact. 

Her granddaughter, Miss Osaghala Veda, described her as a role model who has guided her with wisdom, and prayed for her long life to witness the success of her descendants.

Pastor Dr. Ojazole Emmanuel admired her devotion to serving God, while Mrs. Izewingie from St. Gregory Catholic Church described her as a dedicated church member loved by all.

The celebration continued into the evening with music, dancing, and delicious meals, culminating in the ceremonial cutting of the birthday cake. Mrs. Oboh's son, Dr Akhigbe Oboh expressed gratitude to everyone who came to honor his mother's life and legacy, offering prayers of peace, good health, and blessings to all who shared in this joyful occasion.

A Thanksgiving Mass was celebrated  on Sunday 27th July 2025,at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Ekpoma, bringing together members of the community friends and well-wishers to express gratitude to God for the life of the celebrant.
