Edo First Lady Throws Compassion To Action- Rescues Akwaibom Couple From Burdensome Medical Bills 


Habiba Aniekan SamIn a remarkable display of kindness and empathy, the Office of the First Lady of Edo State, under the coordination of Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, has intervened in the plight of a struggling family. 
The family, comprising Mr. Saviour Sunday and Mrs. Beauty Sunday both from Akwa Ibom state, had been grappling with a hefty medical bill of N1.4 million for their premature baby boy, who was being held  after  completion of treatment  at St. Philomena Hospital in Benin City,while the couple were allowed to search for funds for his discharged .

The couple, who had been referred from one hospital to another, had paid N200,000 and received a donation of N70,000, but were still unable to cover the remaining balance of N1.4 million ,got rescued by the Edo First lady's office.

 Mrs. Anani, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Mrs. Edith Sede, stepped in to settle the outstanding bill, reuniting the family with their baby.

 The couple had incurred significant medical expenses, amounting to N1.4 million, and had already paid N200,000, with a donation of N70,000 from a good Samaritan.

The Office of the First Lady intervened, settling the outstanding medical bill and allowing the couple to finally take their baby home.

The couple also appreciated the medical team at St. Philomena Hospital for providing care and treatment to their baby while they were searching for funds to settle the bill. 

The Office of the First Lady's intervention is a testament to their commitment to protecting the vulnerable and promoting a culture of compassion in Edo State. 

The family has  since expressed their gratitude for the kindness and motherly love shown by the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady.
