Nigeria First Lady Empower Edo Women through Sustainable Agriculture

Habiba Sam Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has distributed agricultural support materials to women across Edo State's 18 local government areas. 

The initiative, supervised by the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Edesili Anani Okpebholo, aims to empower women through sustainable agricultural practices and enhance food security.

The support materials distributed include: Poultry chicks,Improved seedlings,Farm implements,Fertilizers,Cash grants.

The Renewed Hope Initiative, led by the First Lady, seeks to:Promote food security,Enhance economic inclusion,Empower vulnerable populations through sustainable agriculture,Support entrepreneurship and job creation in agriculture.

Meanwhile,Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has demonstrated his commitment to agriculture by:Procuring tractors,Developing over 200 hectares of land,Providing fertilizers for farmers,Supporting large farms, women's cooperatives, and schools.

The initiative has been praised by the Chairman of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Edo State chapter, Alhaji Bako Ebiredelu Dogwo, who commended the governor's administration for embracing agriculture and boosting food security in the state.

The program includes lectures and training sessions for younger farmers, youths in agriculture, and women in agriculture, with the goal of promoting sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing food security. 

Additionally, the Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State, Edesili Anani Okpebholo, presented farming tools to 31 students from Young Farmers Clubs in their schools. This initiative aims to:Kick-start a farming competition in schools across Edo State,Award cash prizes to the best schools and Purchase products from the winning schools.
