Edo Government Lauds BORBDA's Efforts In Host Communities
Habiba Sam The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has commended the Managing Director of Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority (BORBDA), Hon. (Dr.) Olufemi Samuel Adekanmbi, for delivering tangible projects to host communities within a short period of assumption of office.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, Idahosa described the milestone as unprecedented in the history of the Authority, noting that host communities are directly benefiting from the institution's interventions for the first time.
Idahosa appreciated BORBDA's efforts, saying, "On behalf of the Governor of Edo State, I appreciate all you are doing for the host communities. You are representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu very well in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Extending CSR to this community shows true leadership." He urged BORBDA to sustain its efforts in providing benefits to host communities.
BORBDA has commissioned several critical infrastructure projects, including: Five solar-powered boreholes in Obayantor, Ekosa, Owanoba, Agbonmoba, and Iyanomi to improve access to clean water and support agricultural activities.
A police post and lodge in Obayantor to strengthen security in the area, with Hilux vehicles donated to security agencies to boost operations.
Also included is a cassava and maize farm in Owena, to enhance food production and empower local farmers.through it's Agricultural initiatives.
BORBDA's Managing Director, Dr. Adekanmbi, outlined future plans, including: Launching initiatives to equip young Nigerians with practical and business-oriented agricultural training.,Finalizing partnerships with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to expand agricultural development.,Working with agricultural research institutes to promote climate-resilient crops and adaptive farming techniques, while developing a framework for sustainable water resource management.
Dr. Adekanmbi emphasized that BORBDA's operations will be guided by transparency, accountability, efficiency, environmental sustainability, and compliance with the law.
He assured that the Authority is being repositioned to fulfill its mandate and deliver meaningful impact in its host communities.
