Historic Appointment: Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu Becomes UBTH's First Female CMD

Professor Ize-Iyamu's impressive career trajectory spans over 27 years of uninterrupted service at UBTH.
She joined the hospital in 1997 as a Junior Registrar and rose through the ranks to become an Honorary Consultant in 2005.
Her leadership skills were evident during her tenure as Head of Department for over 11 years, where she earned widespread respect for her integrity, deep institutional knowledge, and results-driven approach.
As a globally trained specialist, Professor Ize-Iyamu brings valuable international exposure and expertise to UBTH. She is a Commonwealth Fellow and Craniofacial Orthodontist, having honed her skills at Oxford University Teaching Hospital and the University of Washington.
Her extensive experience and network will likely introduce innovative solutions and best practices to UBTH.
Currently serving as Dean of the School of Dentistry at the University of Benin, Professor Ize-Iyamu has demonstrated exceptional leadership, attracting public-private partnerships, mobilizing resources, and improving infrastructure, staff welfare, and student training.
Her scholarly contributions include over 55 publications in reputable local and international journals, contributing meaningfully to evidence-based health policy and research.
