Telling the Story of a New Edo: Commissioner Afegbua Tasks NAWOJ on Governor Okpebholo's Agenda
He noted that the governor's policies have brought a new look to the state, citing ongoing flyover projects and infrastructure works across Edo.
"These projects are made possible through the support of President Tinubu," Afegbua said. "I urge you to continue supporting the governor through your various media platforms by reaching out to the people about his agenda of building a New Edo."
The commissioner emphasized that the governor's administration is delivering real change across Edo's three senatorial districts, highlighting major strides in the health sector, agricultural interventions, road reconstruction, education, and other projects.
He contrasted the current administration's efforts with the previous government's claims, stating, "The previous government claimed to have transformed education, but our findings show otherwise.
We are changing the narrative, enrollment is rising, and we are upgrading schools so that Edo children can compete globally."
In response, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Adesuwa Ehimua, while presenting a gift to the commissioner,congratulate him on his appointment and highlighted the association's history and mission.
She emphasized NAWOJ's critical role in ensuring that Nigeria's media has a strong and active female contingent, particularly in promoting gender issues and protecting the rights of women in politics, governance, education, health, and economic well-being.
The commissioner promised to work closely with NAWOJ, acknowledging the important role women play in society.
"A woman was my first boss in my practice as a journalist," he recalled.
The meeting is expected to foster a good working relationship between the Ministry of Information and Strategy and women journalists, promoting awareness of Governor Okpebholo's developmental strides in the state.
