The Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has launched a two-week exercise to update the professional records of its members, with chapel leaders being urged to ensure their members submit updated qualifications before the deadline. The initiative began on Wednesday, April 16, 2026, following the formal inauguration of the Edo State Council’s Compendium Update Committee by the Council Chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe.
Speaking at the NUJ congress, the committee appealed to chapel leaders to mobilize journalists in their respective chapels—particularly those who have acquired new academic qualifications or professional certifications—to forward their documents for inclusion in the updated compendium.
Members are expected to channel their submissions through their chapel chairmen, who will then pass the documents on to the committee for collation and verification.
Highlighting the time-sensitive nature of the assignment, the committee stressed that it has just 14 days to complete the comprehensive review of members’ records. It encouraged all chapels and individual journalists to seize the opportunity to ensure their credentials are correctly reflected in the NUJ’s official compendium.
The Committee Chairman, Comrade Pius Nsogho, said he would be available at the NUJ Secretariat every Monday and Thursday between 12:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to receive documents and address enquiries.
He also mentioned that other committee members, including the Secretary, Comrade (Mrs) Habiba Aniekan Sam, and committee member Comrade Felix Azamosa, would be on hand to assist.
For convenience, journalists who are unable to meet the committee directly can submit their documents through the NUJ State Secretary, Comrade Andy Egbon, to ensure a smooth and timely compilation.
