The Edo State Government has expressed confidence that the lingering tussle over the ownership of the Museum of West African Arts, MOWAA, will be settled in the near future.

Speaking recently in Benin City, the Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilo, said a final decision on the contested project is on the horizon. He made the remarks at the Summit, Exhibition and Fashion Show 2026, organised by the Edo State Tourism Agency.

According to Ikhilo, a presidential committee set up to examine the matter is already at work and close to concluding its findings.

“Any issue regarding who owns MOWAA is being actively addressed. A presidential committee is currently reviewing it, and we expect their report very soon. We are confident it will offer a conclusive resolution to the dispute,” he said.

The government’s assurance comes amid ongoing public debate over the control and management of the museum, which is regarded as a key cultural and tourism asset for the state.
