There was excitement at the Edo State Geographic Information Service, EdoGIS, today as staff and management gathered to receive two brand-new 14-seater Toyota buses donated by the Edo State Government.

The presentation, done by His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is part of his administration’s commitment to equip government agencies and bring services closer to the people under the SHINE agenda. The agenda prioritizes strengthening institutions and improving efficiency across the public sector.

The new vehicles were received with cheers by EdoGIS workers who described the donation as timely and impactful.

The Managing Director of EdoGIS, Dr. Innocent Ehiaguina Bello, expressed gratitude to the Governor for keeping his promise. “This intervention shows the Governor’s genuine interest in making public institutions work better for Edo people. He assured us of operational vehicles, and today he has delivered. This will transform how we move and serve,” Dr. Bello said with enthusiasm.

Senior officials of the agency who witnessed the handover also applauded the gesture. They include Dr. Tunde Godson Eigbiremolen, Director of Media; Dr. Mrs. Emofonmwan Jessica Akhere, Director of Shared Services; Mrs. Florence Adebor, Director of Finance and Accounts; and ESV. Mrs. Edith Idehen, Director of Lands. The directors described the buses as a “game changer” that will expand the agency’s mobility and field operations.

According to Dr. Bello, the buses will improve EdoGIS’ reach across the 18 local government areas, making it easier for teams to carry out surveys, land documentation, public enlightenment, and other core duties. He noted that since Governor Okpebholo assumed office in April this year, the agency has enjoyed consistent support aimed at repositioning it for better service delivery.

“With these vehicles, our productivity and response time will improve greatly. Staff can now access remote communities faster and serve Edo citizens more effectively,” the MD added.

He reassured the public that EdoGIS remains committed to the Governor’s vision of a digitally driven, transparent, and people-focused land administration system. He pledged that the agency will continue to deliver quality, timely services that align with the state government’s development goals.
