APC STAKEHOLDERS URGE GOVERNOR OKPEBHOLO TO RECOGNIZE CHIEF DR. ABRAHAM JIMAWO, JP, ILUNAMIE I OF THE THREE IBIE'S SACRIFICE FOR PARTY UNITY

Concerned stakeholders and leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State have called on the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo to recognize the longstanding contributions and sacrifices of Chief Dr. Abraham Jimawo, JP, Ilunamie I of the Three Ibie.

Chief Dr. Jimawo, Ilunamie I of the Three Ibie, a longstanding member and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, has been associated with the party from its earlier formations as AC, ACN through to the APC.

Over the years, he has participated actively in party activities and supported and campaigned for several APC candidates at the local, state and national levels elections.

His political engagements have included mobilisation of support and campaigns for Comrade Senator Adams Oshiomhole in the 2007 and 2012 Edo State Governorship elections, mobilised support and was actively involved in the campaigns for Hon. Eng. Abubakar Momoh during his campaign for the Federal House of Representatives, Etsako Federal Constituency; mobilised support and campaigned for Hon. Kingsley Ugabi, especially during his first term election to the Edo State House of Assembly, all of whom Chief Jimawo has tremendous respect and admiration for to date.

During the 2024 Edo State governorship election, Chief Jimawo was the Chairman of the Senator Monday Okpebholo for Governor Support Group, UK & Ireland, contributing to the mobilisation of massive support for the APC candidate across the diaspora, Edo State and Nigeria as a whole.

Chief Dr. Abraham Jimawo is a staunch supporter of Governor Monday Okpebholo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and he is fully committed to the 2027 re-election of the President and the 2028 re-election of the Governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo.

Chief Dr. Abraham Jimawo has also previously served Edo State in public office as Director and subsequently Executive Director of the Edo State Rapid Response Agency for eight years from 2009 to 2016 during the administration of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole.

During that period, he was involved in government programmes addressing youth employment, poverty alleviation, provision of portable and clean drinkable water to several communities and infrastructure rehabilitation across Edo State.

Supporters and Stakeholders also recalled Chief Jimawo's decision in May 2026 to withdraw as an aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives seat for Etsako Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, following appeals from the Governor and party leadership, in deference to Hon. Sunday Dekeri Anamero, the incumbent member of the House of Representatives.

According to those familiar with the development, his decision was motivated by the desire to preserve party unity and cohesion ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The stakeholders therefore believe that such a sacrifice deserves appropriate recognition from the party leadership and the state government.

They appealed to Governor Monday Okpebholo and the APC leadership to engage with Chief Jimawo and address what they described as the need for greater recognition of his years of service and commitment.

Chief Jimawo, according to the Stakeholders, Supporters and Well Wishers across the Etsako Federal Constituency, Edo North, Edo State, Nigeria and the Diaspora should be adequately compensated financially as well as given a befitting political office appointment without further delay.

They further stressed that recognizing committed APC members and stakeholders would strengthen party morale, promote unity and encourage greater commitment as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The call is therefore for fairness, recognition and appropriate consideration for Chief Dr. Abraham Jimawo, JP, Ilunamie I of the Three Ibie, in view of his long-standing service to the APC and Edo State.

Signed,

Comrade Dr. Kenneth Oshiogwemoh
