Edo Nawoj Celebrates Grand Patron,Esama of Benin @ 92

Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ , has paid a special homage to its Grand Patron, the Esama of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sir Dr. Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, in the lead-up to his 92nd birthday celebration.The delegation, led by NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Habiba Sam, along with members of the executive and other women journalists, visited the Esama at his residence in Benin City. The atmosphere was filled with songs, dance, prayers and heartfelt tributes in honour of the nonagenarian.
Speaking during the visit, Comrade Sam described the Esama as more than a patron, calling him a father figure, a philanthropist and a pillar of support to humanity.
She noted that his life of service, resilience and generosity has touched lives across generations in Edo State, Nigeria and beyond.
The Chairperson said the visit was to celebrate the Esama’s immense contributions to society and to appreciate his unwavering support for NAWOJ and the media profession in general.
They have joined the universe today to celebrate the Esama of Benin who has done so much for humanity, as he is wished long life in total wellness to longevity,” Comrade Sam declared.
As a symbol of honour and appreciation, Comrade Sam presented a framed portrait of the Esama to him on behalf of Edo NAWOJ. She described the gift as a token of love, respect and gratitude from women journalists in the state.
She further prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon the Esama, asking for divine health, strength, wisdom and many more years to continue his service to mankind.
“Your life has been a blessing to us and to the entire Benin Kingdom even beyond the shores of Nigeria. We pray that God grants you more years in sound health and vitality,” she added.
The celebration was rounded off with goodwill messages, music and felicitations from executive members and other NAWOJ members present. The visit reaffirmed the strong bond between the association and its Grand Patron.
NAWOJ noted that the Esama’s legacy of giving and community development continues to inspire, and pledged to sustain the relationship built over the years.
