Regular Pay, Regular Promotions: Governor Okpebholo Restores Dignity to Edo Workers and Pensioners


There is no greater sign that a government is working than when the people who keep it running can plan their lives with certainty. 

Since November 2024, Governor Monday Okpebholo has given Edo state workers and pensioners that certainty. Salaries and pensions now land every 25th of the month. Like clockwork. And promotions for civil servants are no longer a story of "waiting for next year." It is  now very regular as preparation for 2027 promotion is ongoing. . 

This is not small. This is governance.

*What This Means for Edo Families*

For too long, "salary delay" was part of our vocabulary. Workers borrowed to survive. Pensioners who served the state for 35 years were left to beg. That uncertainty broke homes and killed morale.

Today, the story has changed.    *Predictability*: When you know your pay will come on the 25th, you can pay school fees, rent, and hospital bills without fear.

 *Motivation*: Regular promotion is recognition. It tells the civil servant: "Your service is seen. Your career matters." An astute administrator knows that a motivated workforce delivers better results.

 *Dignity for Pensioners*: Our fathers and mothers who built this state are no longer forgotten. Paying them on time is not a favor. It is a right. And it is now being honored by Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Edo workers and pensioners are happy. And they have every reason to be.

*The Bigger Picture*

This consistency since November 2024 shows planning, discipline, and priority. In a time of economic pressure nationwide, keeping to a pay date and clearing promotion backlogs takes political will.

Governor Okpebholo is proving that civil service reform is not just about policy papers. It is about people eating on time. It is about a teacher in Okhuessan,  a nurse in Auchi or an engineer in Benin city knowing that government will not fail them at month end.

*The Charge Ahead*

We commend this administration for this feat. But we also charge them to sustain it strongly. 

 Automate the process so that it will never go back. Continue to train and equip the workforce that are now motivated

To Edo workers: reciprocate this gesture with diligence, integrity, and service to the people.

To Edo pensioners: enjoy the peace that your years of service have earned you.

When government keeps its word to workers, workers keep their word to the people. That is the covenant Governor Okpebholo is building in Edo State.

*A paid worker is a productive worker. A paid pensioner is a dignified elder. Edo is getting it right.*
