Dear Distinguished Senator,
COMMENDATION ON THE SUCCESSFUL TRAINING OF OVER 120 TRADITIONAL BIRTH ATTENDANTS IN EDO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT
I write to convey my heartfelt commendation for your exemplary leadership and people-centered intervention in Edo South Senatorial District.
I note with profound appreciation the successful conclusion of the second phase of the Training Programme for Traditional Birth Attendants, held from 9th to 11th September, 2026 in Benin City. The programme, themed “Strengthening the Knowledge and Skills of Traditional Birth Attendants for Safer Motherhood and Newborn Care” and implemented in collaboration with the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, is a bold and timely response to the challenge of maternal and newborn mortality.
Distinguished Senator, by equipping over 120 women from Orhionmwon and Ovia North-East Local Government Areas with practical skills in safe delivery practices, early identification of danger signs, and prompt referral to orthodox health facilities, you have taken a decisive step toward bridging the gap between traditional and formal healthcare systems.
This initiative is particularly commendable because it recognizes the critical role TBAs play in rural and underserved communities where they are often the first point of contact for expectant mothers. Your approach of capacity building rather than confrontation reflects visionary leadership and a deep understanding of our grassroots realities.
I am further encouraged that this programme aligns with the health policy of His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, Governor of Edo State, on free antenatal care for pregnant women, children under five, and adults above sixty-five. Such synergy between federal representation and state policy is the hallmark of effective governance.
This intervention will undoubtedly contribute to safer motherhood and improved newborn outcomes in Edo South. It is the kind of constituency project that proves representation must be felt in the homes, clinics, and villages of our people.
Please accept my sincere congratulations. I pray that the Almighty God will continue to grant you sound health, wisdom, and the strength to do even more for the good people of Edo South.
Once again, congratulations on this laudable achievement.
Yours in service to democracy and good governance,
SIGNED:
