Edo NUJ Celebrates Chief Osamede Adun @ 72, Describes Him As Pillar Of Support

The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has felicitated Chief Osamede Adun, popularly known as Bob Izua, on the occasion of his 72nd birthday.The delegation, led by the Chairman, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, alongside members of the executive and other journalists, paid a congratulatory visit to Chief Adun at his residence in Benin City.
The atmosphere was filled with songs, dance, prayers and heartfelt tributes in honour of the media icon and philanthropist.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Alenkhe described Chief Adun as a father figure, a philanthropist and a pillar of support to humanity, particularly in Edo State.
He noted that Chief Adun’s life of service, resilience and generosity has touched lives across generations in Edo State and beyond.
Alenkhe said the visit was to celebrate his immense contributions to the NUJ over the years and to appreciate his unwavering support for the less privileged and the journalism profession.
"We join millions today to celebrate you for the job opportunities you have created and for your selfless service to humanity. We wish you long life in total wellness and longevity," Alenkhe stated.
He further prayed for God’s continuous blessings upon Chief Adun, asking for divine health, strength, wisdom and many more fruitful years in service to mankind.
Responding, Chief Osamede Adun expressed gratitude to the NUJ Chairman and his delegation for the honour.
He used the opportunity to thank the Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for appointing him as the Managing Director of the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), noting that the Governor made the best choice and assuring that he would not regret the appointment.
"Festus Alenkhe is a hardworking journalist who is always ready to give his best in any responsibility he is saddled with. I am proud of him anytime. Through him, I have been supportive of your union for over 15 years now, and I have no cause to regret knowing and having him as a son," Chief Adun declared.
He also commended the NUJ for maintaining balance and professionalism in their reportage, especially on matters concerning him over the years.
Earlier, the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Andy Egbon, noted that Chief Adun’s legacy of giving and community development continues to inspire many, and prayed that God protect him and his family.
The celebration was rounded off with music and special prayers offered by members of the executive.
The visit reaffirmed the strong and cordial bond between the Edo NUJ and Chief Osamede Adun.
