Date: 2nd October, 2026

My attention has been drawn to various insinuations regarding the political future of our Leader, Rt. Hon. Professor Julius Ihonvbere, CON, DSSRS, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives.

I wish to state clearly, in line with the Leader's own position, that Professor Ihonvbere did not lose the primaries. He respectfully submitted to and respected the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This clarification is important for the records and for the younger generation of politicians.

THE MEANING OF THIS STATEMENT.

In an era where many politicians resort to litigation, defection, and anti-party activities after an unfavourable party decision, Professor Ihonvbere has chosen to uphold the sanctity and supremacy of the party. He has demonstrated that the APC as an institution is greater than any individual ambition, no matter how qualified or highly placed that individual may be.

As a sitting Majority Leader, a Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), and the political pillar who powered the APC Winning Team in Edo North - from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to Senator Adams Oshiomhole, to Hon. Andrew Ijegbai for Owan Federal Constituency and rt hon Blessing Agbebaku - he had every capacity to challenge the decision. He chose not to. He chose loyalty.

STILL POWERING THE WINNING TEAM.

Even after respecting the NWC decision, Professor Ihonvbere has not withdrawn. He remains fully committed to the success of all APC candidates. He is still supporting and mobilizing for the mandate of Hon. Andrew Ijegbai and other candidates of the party in Edo North ahead of the next general election.

That is what true leadership means - building others even when you step aside.

CONCLUSION

Professor Julius Ihonvbere has taught us that power is not only about winning tickets, but about respecting institutions. Edo North is blessed to have such a disciplined leader who places party unity above personal interest.

We are proud of him and we stand firmly with his decision to respect the NWC.

Long Live APC!

Long Live Edo North!

Long Live Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, CON!

Signed:
