Edo Governor Okpebholo Denounces Vigilante Killing of Travellers Mistaken for Kidnappers

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has vehemently denounced the brutal killing of suspected kidnappers by a mob in Uromi, East North East Local Government Area. 

The governor described theact as "barbaric and condemnable," emphasizing that such violence is unacceptable in the state.

Represented by the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Government House, SP Solomon Osaghale, the governor vowed to ensure that those responsible face justice. Osaghale stressed that the governor is deeply concerned about the incident and has directed a thorough investigation.

According to Osaghale, the victims were intercepted by local security while traveling through the town from Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Upon discovering guns in their vehicle, a mob attacked and killed them. The CSO assured that over four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Governor Okpebholo has also commended community leaders for their efforts in de-escalating tensions and handling the situation with restraint. 

The governor has directed the State Police Command and other security agencies to conduct a speedy investigation and bring those found culpable to book.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many calling for justice and an end to mob violence. 

The governor's swift response and condemnation of the act have been welcomed by the community, particularly the Hausa Community in Uromi, who have expressed gratitude for the governor's efforts to restore peace and normalcy to the area.
