Edo North Residents Praise Government For Bringing CofO Services Closer To Them
Habiba SamAuchi residents, including traditional rulers, government officials, politicians, students, council staff, and artisans, have expressed their gratitude to the Edo State Government for extending Certificate of Occupancy (CofO) services to Edo North.
This development follows the official launch of the Edo North office of the Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS) at the Etsako West Council Secretariat in Auchi.
The Managing Director of EDOGIS, Dr. Tony Ikpasaja, explained that the decision to decentralize the agency's services aligns with Governor Monday Okpebholo's vision of taking government services to the grassroots level. Dr. Ikpasaja assured stakeholders that the agency is committed to delivering prompt and efficient services, provided all necessary requirements are met.
Residents are encouraged to visit the EDOGIS office at the Council Secretariat in Auchi to initiate the process of obtaining their Certificates of Occupancy and other services offered by the agency.¹
Traditional rulers in attendance, including the Otaru of Auchi Scared kingdom and the Ogieneni of Uzairue kingdom, commended the state government for its initiative. Dignitaries at the Stakeholders' Engagement and rally in Auchi, during the official flag off of Edo North office of Edo State Geographic Information Service (EDOGIS) recently.
While expressing their delight at the opening of the Edo North office, they raised concerns about the procedures involved in obtaining a certificate of occupancy, which were addressed by EDOGIS officials.
A team of top EDOGIS officials, including the Project Manager, Director of Media, Land Administration Officer, and Principal Estate Officer, provided valuable insights into the agency's mandate and services.
This led to a robust discussion during the interactive session, where stakeholders had the opportunity to engage with the officials and clarify their queries.The event culminated in a group photograph of stakeholders, followed by a rally and road show to sensitize residents about the presence of EDOGIS in Edo North and the services offered by the agency. EDOGIS is responsible for administering land resources in the state, granting titles to land assets, acquiring land for public interest, and collecting land-based taxes.
