The Penalties for Encroachment includes -;
*10 years imprisonment*: for forceful or violent entry into government land.
*5 years imprisonment*: for unauthorized sale, lease, or transfer of government property without the Governor's consent.
*Prosecution and disciplinary action*: for professionals who facilitate or assist in illegal land transactions.
The Consequences of Encroachment are-:
*Loss of investment*: encroachers risk losing their entire investment, with no compensation for structures or developments made on the land.
*Invalid claims*: any claim of ownership or title obtained without proper authorization or the Governor's consent is null and void.
*Financial losses*: encroachment can lead to massive financial losses, including loss of property value and investment confidence.
*Reputational damage*: professionals who facilitate or assist in illegal land transactions risk damaging their reputation and facing disciplinary action.
In it's commitment,the Government has established the Edo State Public Property Protection Committee to oversee the protection and recovery of government properties. The committee has the power to:
"Inspect and recover government properties.
*Collaborate with law enforcement agencies* to evict illegal occupants.
*Publish names of offenders* as a deterrent to others
