Office Of Edo First Lady Rally Behind Immunization Efforts

Habiba SamThe Office of the First Lady, Edo State, in collaboration with key health stakeholders, has emphasized the importance of immunization in protecting children from life-threatening diseases. 

The call to action was made during a strategic meeting at Government House, Benin City, aimed at strengthening vaccine uptake across the state.

 Stakeholders stressed the crucial role of immunization in preventing diseases such as measles and rubella.

The Edo State Government has put in place structures to ensure free and safe vaccines for all children.

-The need for intensified community engagement, especially in rural areas, was emphasized to address vaccine resistance and misconceptions.

A nationwide vaccination campaign targeting measles and rubella is scheduled for rollout in October 2025, with additional phases planned for January 2026.

 The Office of the First Lady and stakeholders are working together to ensure effective message dissemination and readiness for the campaign.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to drive successful immunization initiatives and improve health outcomes for children and communities throughout Edo State.

A Pressing Plea for Help-Young Couple Seeks Assistance to Discharge Their Newborn Baby Habiba Aniekan Sam  A young couple, Mr. Saviour Sunday, 29, and his wife, Mrs. Beauty Sunday, 24, from Oruk Anam LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA of AKWAIBOM State, are in dire need of financial assistance to discharge their newborn baby boy from St. Philomena Hospital in Benin City.  The baby, born prematurely on May 29, has been receiving treatment at the hospital and is currently in a stable condition.
