In
a powerful display of solidarity, the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Edo State, led by its newly elected Chairperson, Comrade Habiba Sam, has called on Edo women to take a stand against violence and report cases of abuse to the relevant authorities.

The impassioned plea was made during a sensitization campaign held at Oba Market in Benin City, as part of the 16 Days Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Comrade Habiba Sam, flanked by leading members of the association, emphasized the urgent need for women to speak out against violence and seek justice.

She specifically urged women to refrain from exploiting and abusing their house maids, warning that such actions would attract severe consequences.

The NAWOJ team took the opportunity to educate market women on the importance of prioritizing their safety and well-being in their marriages. They encouraged women to report any instances of violence or abuse, assuring them of support and protection.

The market campaign was a resounding success, with market women demonstrating a keen interest in learning more about their rights and how to protect themselves.

The Edo NAWOJ has vowed to continue its advocacy efforts, working tirelessly to create a society where women and girls can live free from fear and violence.

The campaign concluded with a renewed sense of purpose, as women pledged to take action and report cases of violence, and NAWOJ reaffirmed its commitment to supporting them every step of the way.
