The Edo State Geographic Information Service (EdoGIS) is revolutionizing land administration in Edo State, Nigeria. Under the Ministry of Lands and Housing, EdoGIS provides a one-stop-shop for all land-related matters, including Certificates of Occupancy, surveys, and title registration.

EdoGIS is charged with the mandate of land administration responsibilities on behalf of the Edo State Government. Its mandate includes:

- *Processing and granting Certificates of Occupancy (C-of-O) and Rights of Occupancy

- *Cadastral surveying and mapping of the entire State

- *Registration of all land titles and instruments

- *Land acquisition and compensation services

- *Management of master plans and survey information

- *Administration of land-based taxes

- *Geographic and spatial data services

With a fully digital, cashless system, EdoGIS eliminates corruption and ensures transparency. The agency has digitized over 30,000 legacy land file records, providing a secure electronic archive. This has boosted investor confidence, with major corporations like Dangote Industries and Okomu Oil Palm Company trusting EdoGIS for their land documentation needs.

EdoGIS offers a transparent search system, revealing encumbrances and ensuring title security. 

A formal search costs N35,000, providing a legally-backed document confirming ownership and title status. The agency has offices in Ekpoma and Auchi, extending services to Edo Central and Edo North.

Every Edo property owner is urged to secure their Certificate of Occupancy, the only legal proof of land ownership. Without it, properties are not recognized as assets and can't be used as collateral. EdoGIS is committed to securing land rights, powering Edo's future, and inviting investment into the state.
