Women's organizations, led by NAWOJ Edo State chapter, FIDA, and other prominent groups, have rallied across Edo State, pushing for the passage of the Reserved Seats for Women Bill to enhance inclusive governance in Nigeria.

The advocacy rally, which took place at constituency offices across the senatorial district, saw Chairpersons Habiba Sam (NAWOJ) and Francisca Elema (FIDA) leading the charge, alongside women political aspirants, supporters, and representatives from various women's groups, including FOMWAN, NILO, NCWS, 100 WOMEN LOBBY GROUP, and AWLA.

The rally's message was clear: demand the passage of the Special Seats for Women Bill to amplify women's voices in decision-making and strengthen democracy.

A petition was presented to political holders, urging support for the bill, which would empower women to participate fully in shaping policies.

Hon Billy Osawaru, representing Orhionmwon/Uhumwonde House of Representatives district, assured them of his support, stating, "I have always pushed for this, and I will continue to do so.

We are looking at it very well, to ensure no one is left out, especially those physically challenged persons." He affirmed his commitment to the 35% affirmative action for women and promised to lay the petition before the house.

Notably, he declared, "I am a He for She," reaffirming his dedication to supporting women's causes.

Other constituency leaders who received the petition through proxy included Hon Esosa Iyawe (Oredo Federal constituency) and Hon Omosede Igbinedion (Ovia North-East/Ovia South-West), showing a united front in support of women's representation in politics.

The rally, which also included representatives from FOMWAN, NILO, NCWS, 100 WOMEN LOBBY GROUP, and AWLA, marked a significant step towards achieving gender equality and inclusive governance in Nigeria.
